Summer Escape 2017

Summer Escape

Summer Escape is a summer camp for children and teens with special needs, between the ages of 5 and 21. With a staff trained in implementing individualized support systems, we are ready to tailor the experience to ensure every child has a summer worth remembering. The camp will have weekly sessions, with options for half-days and full-days, early drop off and late pick up. Every week will have an overall theme, and daily activities include music time, arts and crafts, dance parties, and so much more!

Camp runs June 4th – August 3rd 2018

Some of our exciting visitors are listed below in the weekly theme descriptions

2017 summer camp weekly themes and activities:

Week 1: Week of Welcome ( May 31st-June 2nd)

We’re going to kick off the summer right this week with a Bounce House, pools and sprinklers, slushies, water guns, and anything that screams summer!

Week 2: Plant Week ( June 5th-9th)

Prepare for some green thumbs this week, as we dive into the world of plants! Along with learning and interacting with all kinds of vines and leaves, everyone will learn how to take care of a plant. Each kid will decorate a pot, pick out their plant, and take it home! Don’t worry though, we use succulents, so keeping it alive after camp is a breeze!

Week 3: Old Macdonald and His Farm ( June 12th-16th)

This week we will have our friends from Redemptive Love bring their farm into our backyard! We’ll be meeting and learning about chickens, pigs, mini-horses, goats, and other farm animals!

Week 4: Moovin’ and Groovin’ ( June 19th-23rd)

Bring your dancing shoes and some old clothes, because this week is all about art and music! We’ll be doing Paint Drums (think blue man group), splatter painting, African tribal drumming, and more!

Week 5: Summer Escape Olympics ( June 26th-30th)

The Summer Escape Olympics return after a showing last year that obscure sports fans are already calling, “The greatest sporting event ever.” We’ll have opening ceremonies, parades, daily events, and of course: gold medals for everyone, because every kid is a champion this week.

Week 6: Public Service week ( July 3rd-7th)

We’ll be meeting some men and women who keep us safe. This week Firefighters, Police Officers with their canine friends, and EMTs come and talk about their job, and show us their vehicles and gear. We will also be having tons of “acting fun” this week as we pretend to be some of these public servants!

Week 7: Silly Science Week ( July 10th-14th)

This week we’ll be making things sizzle, pop, fizz and glow! We’re going to be busting out beakers and getting nutty this week as we perform all kinds of wacky science experiments!

Week 8: Super-Hero Week ( July 17th-21st)

KA-POW! BLAM! Secret identities and capes are everywhere this week as campers develop their super-hero personality and costume. At the end of the week, Spider Man will be making a surprise visit and taking us on a super powered adventure!

Week 9: Paws, Claws, and Caws ( July 24th-28th)

ROAR! Well, we won’t be meeting any animals that roar this week, but we’ll be meeting all kinds of critter friends including snakes, birds, and service dogs! Also, we’ll have a friend come from the Tallahassee Museum to introduce us to some of their animal friends.

Week 10: Moovin’ and Groovin’ II ( July 24th-28th)

The week that was so popular last year, it will be done twice this year. We’ll be diving into each kid’s creative side as we explore the world of art and music, and discover the joy of creating.

Week 11: Back to School Bash ( August 7th-9th)

We will be celebrating our last week of Summer Escape this week with an inflatable obstacle course, and all kinds of party shenanigans!
