Therapy

The Therapy Department offers physical, occupational, speech, music, and art therapies. Our therapists pride themselves in continuing their professional development and always strive to be informed on the latest and most innovative of therapies. A few specialty therapies offered include: Handwriting Without Tears ®, Therasuit ™ Therapy, and TheraTogs ™.

Occupational Therapy

Many people are surprised to hear that children participate in occupational therapy because we usually associate the term occupation with work. However, occupational therapists have a broad view of "occupation."

Handwriting Without Tears

Jan Olsen, the Author of Handwriting Without Tears, has been an Occupational Therapist for 28 years. She developed the program when her own son was having trouble with handwriting in the first grade. Taking a developmental approach, she kept what worked, threw away what didn't, and created Handwriting Without Tears.

Physical Therapy

As physical therapists specializing in pediatrics, we assist children in developing independence and safe methods to participate in the home, community, classroom and playground. At Progressive Pediatric Therapy Services, our physical therapist are concerned with children's ability to take part in important movement activities such as crawling and walking, running, playing games, participating in sports, and in other important physical interactions with the world around them.

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy works to improve a child's understanding of language as well as their ability to communicate with others. Speech therapists address a child's ability to make speech sounds necessary to pronounce words. They also address a child's ability to use the muscles of their mouth to speak or eat appropriately.

Music Therapy

Music therapy provides an additional avenue to assist in your child’s development and success. Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship.

Therasuit™ Therapy

Many children in the United States only receive school-based therapy that is educationally focused. It often does not address a child's ability to move independently of a wheelchair or other assistive devices. If school-based therapy is not enough, some children may receive in-home or out-patient therapy.
